It's not even summer yet!

After living in north Texas for a few years now, I've noticed the heat often gets here before summer becomes official.

So for other recent arrivals, and as a reminder to those who've lived here awhile, keep alert and aware of the effects heat can have on anyone --especially children or pets-- left inside a hot car. Take precautions, set reminders, do what you must to ensure their safety. They're worth your efforts.

Mosquito populations are also on the rise. So we will continue our mosquito surveillance on a regular basis and will provide updated reports and warnings, should West Nile Virus, Zika Virus or any other mosquito-borne illness become a concern in Tarrant County. Parents, Tarrant County Public Health will provide back-to-school immunizations later this summer. You'll find that schedule here.
