Healthy Lives Matter Spotlights Alzheimer’s Disease

TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS — Tarrant County Commissioner Roderick Miles, Jr. will host the 10th Annual Healthy Lives Matter Alzheimer’s Education Seminar on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus (300 Trinity Campus Circle, Fort Worth, TX 76102).

Continuing education units (CEUs) will be available for nurses, social workers, certified case managers, and licensed professional counselors.
In Texas, the number of individuals aged 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s is projected to rise from 400,000 in 2021 to 490,000 by 2025—a 22.5 percent increase. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Texas recorded 4,778 more dementia-related deaths than expected—a 25.9 percent increase over the average according to the Alzheimer’s Association.


This one-day seminar will offer valuable information on the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, practical strategies for managing difficult situations, and updates on the latest research and treatment options. Attendees will also experience the Dementia Live Experience, designed to foster empathy and improve the quality of interactions with loved ones living with dementia.
