Kidney Wellness and Health Expo

Arlington, TX — Tarrant County Precinct 2 Commissioner Alisa Simmons, in partnership with the National Kidney Foundation Serving Texas, UT Southwestern Moncrief Cancer Institute, Tarrant County Public Health, and the Mid-Cities (Texas) Chapter of The Links, Inc., invites the community to attend her 3rd Annual Kidney Wellness and Health Expo in March. This family-friendly, free event offers free kidney disease and breast cancer screenings, low-cost flu shots, free preventive health education and a comprehensive community resource fair for Tarrant County residents.

“I’m a Chronic Kidney Disease patient. So, this effort is very important to me,” Commissioner Simmons said. “Too many people are walking around with kidney disease and unaware they have it until they’re in advanced stages and need a transplant. Early detection is critical to prevent this from happening.”

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) affects an estimated 35 million adults in the United States. People of African American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander descent are at increased risk for CKD because of higher prevalences of high blood pressure and diabetes among these populations, experts say. The Kidney Wellness event will connect residents with leading local physicians, nurses and social workers in the kidney disease detection field and with diet experts to help them take charge of their health.

Commissioner Alisa Simmons’ 3rd Annual Kidney Wellness and Health Expo will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Tarrant County Sub-Courthouse, 700 E. Abram St., in Arlington.

The Health Expo will offer other health services, including low-cost adult and child flu shots, and kidney-healthy food samples, health education sessions, community resource vendors, a KidsZone for families, complimentary lunch, and more. Residents may register for the event on Eventbrite or at Kidney wellness and Health Expo or by calling (817) 248-6099.
