Healthy Lives Matter Spotlights Prostate Cancer Awareness
TARRANT COUNTY – Tarrant County Commissioner Roderick Miles, Jr. and The Honorable Roy Charles Brooks will host the 12th Annual Healthy Lives Matter Prostate Cancer Education and Screening Event on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Moncrief Cancer Institute (400 W. Magnolia Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76104). This free annual event aims to increase prostate cancer awareness and offer Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) screenings for men of all ages. Register at www.tarrantcountytx.gov/prostateevent
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 333,000 men in the United States will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year. Men who are high risk, which includes Men of Color over age 45 and men who have a first-degree relative diagnosed with prostate cancer, are twice as likely to develop the disease. African American men are more likely to develop prostate cancer compared to Caucasian men and are nearly two times as likely to die from the disease.
A PSA test is a blood test that measures how much prostate-specific antigen is in the blood. PSA is a protein made by the prostate gland, and an elevated PSA could be an early sign of prostate cancer. Early detection is key and could save lives.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for attendees. For more information on this event, call (817) 370-4500 or (817) 531-5600.
We look forward to seeing everyone!
