Commissioner Manny Ramirez Biography

 

Commissioner Manny Ramirez is a native Texan and a life-long resident of Northwest Tarrant County. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Fabiola Ramirez. Together, they have three beautiful daughters, Sofia, Mia, and Penelope. Manny has earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Texas Christian University (TCU) and is also a proud Alumnus of Tarleton State University and W.E. Boswell High School.

Manny is an experienced executive, small business owner, and police officer. Manny has been commissioned with the Fort Worth Police Department for more than 15 years as a Police Officer, Detective, and Sergeant. Over that time, his assignments included patrol officer, robbery detective, hostage negotiator and investigator for the United States Department of Homeland Security National Gang Unit. Most recently, Manny served as president of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association, an elected position in which he represented more than 1,700 police officers on the local, state, and national level.

In 2019, after months of negotiation with the City of Fort Worth leadership, Manny was successful in securing a groundbreaking agreement to solve a $1.6 billion pension shortfall. Achieving a fair and equitable solution for over 10,000 active and retired public servants with no negative impact to the taxpayers. Due to the efforts of Commissioner Ramirez and those involved in the negotiations, the City of Fort Worth has the proud distinction of being the only major city in Texas to solve its pension crisis without legislative intervention from Austin.

In 2020, Manny was appointment by Governor Greg Abbott to the Board of Directors for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV.) Manny has also served as a member of the Chancellors Advisory Council at TCU and the Advisory Council of the Salvation Army Fort Worth. Manny is currently a Board Member on the Regional Transportation Council, a division of the North Central Texas Council of Governments responsible for the planning and the dissemination of federal, state, and local transportation funds.

Manny fights for taxpayers on the local, state, and national level, ensuring that public safety remains a top priority for our elected lawmakers. Manny's blue-collar upbringing equipped him with a strong work ethic and moral fortitude. His family taught him the value of community, respect, and honesty but most importantly, his working-class roots taught him that if you want something you have to work for it. No one will work harder than Manny to create a better future for our children, our community, and our country.
