Tarrant County Historical Commission
Description
County historical commissions are authorized by the Texas Legislature for the purpose of "initiating and conducting programs for the preservation of the historical heritage of the county." Appointed by the Commissioners Court for two-year terms, historical commissioners operate under their own by-laws but in close association with the Texas Historical Commission in Austin.

19 members serve two-year terms with appointments made in odd numbered years with no term limits.
Meeting Time and Location
Meet six times per year, on the 4th Wednesday of the months of January, March, May, July and September. The November meeting may be scheduled as necessary to accomodate the Thanksgiving holiday. Meetings are held at 200 Taylor Street, 5th Floor, Fort Worth, TX 76196. Work of the Commission is continuous throughout the year.
