Tarrant County Election Board

Description

General Responsibilities:

• Approves the Election Administrator’s procurement of election supplies necessary to conduct the general election [Section 51.003(1)].
• Appoints the members of the Early Voting Ballot Board from lists submitted by the political parties [Section 87.002(c)].
• Appoints the Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge of the Early Voting Ballot Board from lists submitted by the political parties [Section 87.002(d)].
• Appoints the members of the Early Voting Signature Verification Committee from lists submitted by the political parties [Section 87.027(b), (c) and (d)].
• Appoints chair and vice-chair of the Early Voting Signature Verification Committee from lists submitted by the political parties [Section 87.027(b), (c) and (d)].

Committee Details

Members are set statutorily and are the Election Administrator (chair) County Judge (vice-chair), Sheriff (secretary), Democratic Party Chair, Republican Party Chair.  No maximum terms.

Meeting Time and Location

Meets at the call of the Chair and held in the Commissioners Courtroom located on the 5th Floor of the County Administration Building located at 100 E. Weatherford Street, Fort Wort, TX. Traditionally have more meetings than required because the Board has met from time to time at the instance of prior Election Administrators to be updated on current issues regarding elections. But the actual jurisdiction of the Board is limited.
