Tarrant County Variance Appeal Board
Description
Tarrant County participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which allows its residents in the unincorporated area to purchase flood insurance at a subsidized rate from the Federal Government. As a requirement, in order for flood insurance to be made available at a subsidized rate, Tarrant County agrees to enforce the Tarrant County floodplain regulations. In the event that a violation has occurred and/or a permit has been denied, the Tarrant County Floodplain Regulations (under Article 4, Section D) require that a Variance Appeal Board hear and render judgement on properly submitted requests for variances from the requirements of the rules.
