Candidate Accommodations (Hiring Process)

If you are applying for a position with Tarrant County and need assistance to participate in the hiring or interview process, you may request accommodation. Examples include accessible interview locations, sign language interpreters, or assistance with employment applications.

To request an accommodation during the hiring process, please click the “Request Accommodation” button below and complete the ADA Candidate Accommodation Request form. Once submitted, Human Resources will review your request and respond within 10 business days. 

Employee Accommodations (Workplace)

Current employees may request accommodation to perform the essential functions of their position or to access workplace benefits. Examples include modified work schedules, assistive technology, job restructuring, or adjustments to policies.

To request an accommodation as an employee, click the “Request Accommodation” button below and complete the Employee ADA Accommodation Request form. HR will review your request in consultation with your department and provide a response within 10 business days.

Request ADA Accommodation Review

If you disagree with the decision regarding your accommodation request, you may request a review.

  • Candidates may request a review through the HR Director (or designee) within 10 business days of the decision.

  • Employees may request review through the HR Director (or designee) within 10 business days of the decision.

The review will consider your request, supporting documentation, and the original decision. A written response will be provided within 10 business days. Please note, these timeframes are general guidelines and may be extended if more information is needed.

What is workplace accommodation? An accommodation is a change or adjustment that helps an employee with a disability perform the essential functions of their job. Examples include modified work schedules, assistive equipment, changes to workplace policies, or making facilities accessible.
Who can request an accommodation? Any employee with a disability that affects their ability to perform essential job duties or access workplace benefits may request accommodation.
How do I request an accommodation? Click the “Request Accommodation” button above and complete the form. Be sure to provide enough information so the HR ADA Coordinator understands your needs. You may also be asked to provide medical documentation to support your request.
How long does it take to get a response? You will typically receive a written response from HR within 10 business days after we receive your request. In some cases, more time may be needed if additional information is required.
What if my request is denied? If your request is denied, you may request a review by clicking the “Request Review” button above. A separate review will be conducted by the HR Director (or designee).
Will my information be kept confidential? Yes. Medical and accommodation information is kept private and shared only with individuals who need the details to support the accommodation process.
