The County Auditor is the Chief Financial Officer of the County. Additionally, by constitutional amendment, the office of County Treasurer was abolished and the duties transferred to the County Auditor in 1983. The County Auditor is an appointed position with a term of two years starting in April of even years. The County Auditor is appointed by a board of District Judges. S. Renee Tidwell, CPA
S. Renee Tidwell has served as the County Auditor for over 25 years, making her the second longest serving Auditor in Tarrant County history. Ms. Tidwell was first appointed as the Tarrant County Auditor in February 1996.
Prior to being the County Auditor, she has 10 years experience as the Assistant Director of Audit at DFW Airport and six years of public accounting with Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC).
The Tarrant County Auditor's Office is currently staffed with 62 full-time employees.
