Colonel Roy D. Russell, 1962
Summary: Roy D. Russell served during World War II in the 28th Bomber Squadron of the 19th Bomber Group of the US Army Air Force. He was taken as a prisoner of war in the Philippines by the Japanese. He was later freed by troops under the command of General Douglas MacArthur. He served 30 years of military service and retired in 1970 with the rank of Colonel. The collection was donated by Linda R. Clark, daughter of Roy D. Russell.
The Colonel Roy D. Russell collection consists of artifacts, newspaper clippings, correspondence, telegrams, military service, family and military photos, publications and scrapbooks. The Colonel Roy D. Russell Collection contains World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War memorabilia, with a particular focus on prisoners of war (POWs).
