Tarrant County Sheriff's Office Internships

Join us in serving the community while gaining real-world experience in law enforcement, victim advocacy, and forensic science. Our internship program offers unique, trauma-informed learning opportunities for college juniors and seniors seeking to explore careers in public service.

We offer three specialized tracks to fit a variety of academic interests and career goals:

1. General Overview Internship

Get a big-picture view of the Sheriff’s Office.
This track introduces students to multiple departments, including Patrol, Detention, Dispatch, Victim services, and Specialized Units. Interns will observe operations, participate in ride-alongs, and learn how law enforcement functions as a whole.

2. Crime Scene Internship

For students pursuing a career in forensics.

This 10+ week experience offers an inside look at the daily responsibilities and challenges of a Crime Scene Investigator. Interns will shadow a CSI through real-time scene responses, lab-based evidence processing, and report drafting. Opportunities may include hands-on mock scenarios with photography and various processing methods.

3. Victim Services Internship

Make a difference in the lives of crime victims.
Work alongside the Victim Assistance Coordinator to provide emotional support, crisis response, and safety planning to survivors of crime and trauma. Interns gain direct experience in trauma-informed advocacy within a law enforcement setting.

Internship Requirements

  • Must complete the online application and submit all required materials
  • Must be a junior or senior in college
  • Degree focus must be in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Forensic Science)
  • Must commit to the full internship schedule
  • Must pass a background check
