Tarrant County Human Trafficking Task Force

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is committed to combatting human trafficking and internet-facilitated crimes against children. The Office does this through the Human Trafficking Unit, a unit comprised of dedicated professionals who are part of the Tarrant County Human Trafficking Task Force, the North Texas Trafficking Task Force, and the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

As a member of the Tarrant County Human Trafficking Task Force, we strive to develop and implement a coordinated and collaborative, person-centered, trauma-informed, multidisciplinary response to human trafficking in our community by seeking a collective effort among local, state, and federal law enforcement, prosecutors, victim service providers, and other organizations. We achieve this by increasing community awareness for the prevention and identification of human trafficking victims, increasing investigation and prosecution of human trafficking cases at a local, state, and federal level, and providing coordinated, comprehensive, trauma-informed services to meet the needs of human trafficking victims.

Five core objectives assist in achieving these goals:

• We understand all forms of human trafficking occur in Tarrant County.
• We believe human trafficking impacts all genders, ages, and nationalities, and our response, including identification, investigation, prosecution, services, training, and awareness, must be inclusive.
• Collaboration is essential for success.
• Effective investigations, prosecutions, and services must be person-centered and trauma-informed.
• Preventing and responding to human trafficking requires a deliberate and long-term approach with protocols and actions determined by data and experience.

The Tarrant County Human Trafficking Task Force comprises a Core Leadership Team and three subcommittees: Law Enforcement and Prosecution, Victim Service Providers, and Outreach and Training.

The Task Force has numerous organizations, including local, state, and federal law enforcement and prosecutors' offices, victim service providers, and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The Human Trafficking Unit is an active member of the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The ICAC Task Force is part of a national law enforcement effort sponsored by the United States Department of Justice to protect children from crimes committed via the Internet, including but not limited to:

• child sexual abuse material
• technology-facilitated sexual exploitation of children
• solicitation of a child

Members of the task force are available to provide presentations on human trafficking prevention and internet safety to interested community groups and organizations. To request a presentation, email your request to humantrafficking@tarrantcountytx.gov. 

Be sure to include your contact information, the name of your group / organization, requested dates, and the scope of your request (where will the presentation be taking place, does the location have audio / visual capabilities, what is the anticipated number of people attending, what age group are you requesting the presentation be geared towards, etc.) A member of the task force will follow up with you.
