Environmental

The Environmental Services Division was established in 1995 to keep Tarrant County's internal operations in compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations and to give the citizens of unincorporated Tarrant County information about environmental issues.

Some of the duties and services provided by the division to keep Tarrant County in compliance with federal, state and local environmental rules and regulations include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the Underground Storage Tank system,
  • Managing the County's internal Construction Storm Water program,
  • Preparing the annual Texas Tier II Reports for County facilities,
  • Managing the disposal of waste from the various County locations,
  • Preparing Environmental Site Assessments for County properties and potential County properties,
  • Maintaining the Hazard Communication Program for various County facilities,
  • Managing spill response and cleanup on County properties as well as
  • Serving on numerous regional and statewide committees addressing environmental issues relevant to county operations.

Some of the duties and services provided by the division to keep the citizens of unincorporated Tarrant County informed about the environment include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the Household Chemical Waste Program;
  • Reviewing Construction Storm Water Permits for the unincorporated areas;
  • Issuing Junkyard, Automotive Wrecking & Salvage Yard Permits;
  • Collecting information about Illegal Dumping; and
  • Co-managing the Tarrant County's TCEQ MS4 Storm Water Permit.
