BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Duane Gage served both as Chair of the Tarrant County Historical Commission and as an instructor of History at Tarrant County College - Northeast Campus during the 1970s and 1980s. Duane Gage was a strong proponent of Community Archives, initiating the Heritage Room Archives on the campus where he taught, as well as helping to found the Tarrant County Archives. His contributions are far more than the items listed below in that he played a significant role in bringing in collections that were designated as part of the Tarrant County Historical Commission Collection.

SCOPE AND CONTENTS

The Duane Gage Collection contains books, bulletins, clippings, correspondence, documents, mixed materials student projects, photographs and copy photographs, publications, and slides and copy slides dating from the late 1870s through the early 1990s. Mixed Materials Student Projects

The Mixed Materials Student Projects are photographic essays completed by Duane Gage’s Tarrant County College - Northeast Campus History students. The approximately (290) projects date from 1977 to 1989, with the bulk of the dates in the 1980s. While not all the information may be accurate or the photographs of the best quality, these projects are significant because they document businesses, organizations, and structures that may not longer exist, and areas that have since been made unrecognizable by development.
