Paid Holidays

The Commissioners Court designates 13 holidays each year. Holidays may change annually — check the current holiday calendar for updates.

Typical holidays include:

Vacation (Annual Leave)

Full-time employees earn vacation on an accrual basis. The more years you work for the County, the more vacation you earn.

Years of Service, Annual Accrual

  • Zero – Five years, 10 days (3.08 hrs per pay period)

  • Five – 10 years, 15 days (4.62 hrs per pay period)

  • 10 – 15 years, 20 days (6.15 hrs per pay period)

  • 15+ years, 25 days (7.69 hrs per pay period)

Vacation may be used after completing the probation period (if applicable).

Sick/Personal Leave

Full-time employees earn 12 days per year, at a rate of eight hours per month.

You may use sick/personal leave for:

  • Personal illness or medical appointments

  • Care of a sick family member

  • Personal business with supervisor approval

Tuition Reimbursement

Tarrant County supports your educational goals by reimbursing tuition for job-related degree programs (associate, bachelor’s, or graduate).

  • Eligibility: Full-time employees after 180 days of service, in good standing.

  • Approved Schools: Must attend an accredited institution.

  • Approved Coursework:  Courses and degree plans must be directly relevant to current roles or future career opportunities within Tarrant County.  

  • Reimbursement Amount: Based on final grades  

Tarrant County Credit Union

Employees are eligible to join the Tarrant County Credit Union.

Mother-Friendly Worksite

  • Tarrant County is a designated Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite.

  • Private lactation spaces are available for nursing mothers.

  • Reasonable break time is provided for milk expression.
