BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Dominick J. Cirincione (1940-2021) was born in New York City and joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school. While in the Navy, he attended Aviation Electrician School and Teterboro School of Aeronautics where he obtained his Airframe and Power Plant License in 1964. After four years working on military aircraft, he continued his aviation education by earning a management certificate from the University of Maryland and two associate degrees from Tarrant County College. He transferred to Texas Christian University for his business degree in 1995.

Cirincione started his aviation career working for Petroleum Helicopter in Louisiana then became a field service representative for Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth in 1968. He spent several years doing field work on the company’s aircraft in Brazil, Vietnam, and Iran during and after the Vietnam War. While at Bell, Cirincione served as an engineer for the development of the V-22 Osprey. He retired in 2004.

The collection covers Cirincione’s professional career as well as his wide range of personal interests. His interests included archeology, paleontology, the arts, cartography, photography, politics, and the history of the American West. He also collected materials on the history of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, the John F. Kennedy assassination, and the U. S. terrorist attack in New York on September 11, 2001. Cirincione used photography to document various paleontological, archeological, and history projects. His photo documentary on the Texas Sesquicentennial Wagon Train event in 1986 resulted in a book that he co-authored with J’Nell Pate.

Cirincione held memberships in numerous archeological and historical associations, including the Texas Map Society, Nature Conservancy, World Wildlife Fund, Earthwatch, and the Society for American Archeology. He was also an avid traveler, visiting sites in the U. S., Africa, Australia, South America, and Europe.

PROVENANCE

A long-time contributor to the Tarrant County Archives, Dominick J. Cirincione donated materials over the span of two decades starting in the 1990s. The archives received the final donation from his estate after his death in 2021. He began donating after Dee Barker from the Tarrant County Historical Commission asked him for photographs of the log barn in Colleyville, Texas, which are now in this collection. Dominick J. Cirincione gave some items related to the Texas Old Missions and Forts Restoration Association (TOMFRA) in honor of Joanne Pratt. This collection also contains items which belonged to the donor’s sister, Francine Reese, who donated them in honor of her late husband, Tony Reese. Some items related to Bell Helicopter came from C. E. Leibensburger.
