Summary: Oscar Monnig was the president and co-owner of Monnig's Department Stores. He was the son of William and Alma Wandry Monnig. Monnig was an astronomer and his large collection of meteorites was donated to Texas Christian University. His father was a pioneer merchant in Fort Worth who served on the Fort Worth City Council during the 1930's and was a leader in the Chamber of Commerce aiding in the building of the Texas Hotel and Fort Worth's acquisition of the area known as the Cultural District.
