Historical Note

The mission of the Tarrant County Elections Office is to establish and increase public confidence in the electoral process by conducting voter registration and elections with the highest level of professional election standards, integrity, security, accuracy, and fairness. One of the most important functions of county government is to oversee the electoral process. The Elections Department has the responsibility of conducting all federal, state, and county elections, and certain elections for municipalities, independent school districts, and other political subdivisions that contract with Tarrant County for elections.

Scope and Contents

The Tarrant County Elections Office Collection contains materials related to elections held within the county from 1890 through 2015, including election return ledgers, election filings, precinct boundary information, and many maps of election districts. As part of a County Clerk preservation project, the majority of the election return ledgers were disbound, digitized, and re-bound. Because of this, these election returns can be viewed on the Tarrant County Historic Ledgers page as pdf files.
