SEED is responsible for most environmental issues involving unclean premises, illegal dumpsites, potential water contamination, and junked property/vehicles in unincorporated Tarrant County.  SEED deputies work closely with Tarrant County Public Health and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in their efforts to clean up properties in Tarrant County.

The SEED unit is also responsible for Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. The CVE deputy works primarily on overweight truck violations and other general state violations regarding commercial vehicles. SEED deputies are not responsible for emission control, nor do they have Federal Department of Transportation authority. For example: they cannot place trucks out of service.  CVE is an important part of traffic safety and environmental health in Tarrant County.  Overweight trucks damage roads, which makes them more uncomfortable and difficult to drive on. The cost of road repair comes from tax dollars, and increased use of the equipment and materials for road building just adds to the emissions in our air.
