Utility Allowances

Utility Allowances (UA) are given to all program participants who pay electric, gas and/or water for the assisted unit.  Typically, the UA amount is deducted from the family's share of rent.  While the family may not see TCHAO make a payment directly to their utility bill, they can be assured the amount of rent they are paying is less than it would be without the UA.  If a client is responsible for electric, gas and/or water AND has a tenant rent of $0, the client is probably due a Utility Reimbursement payment.

Utility Allowance Schedules are reviewed at least annually and updated as needed based on significant fluctuations in average utility charges.  The following Utility Allowance Schedules were effective January 1, 2023, and expires December 31, 2023.
