The following are Department of State Health Services (DSHS) definitions of services offered by various subrecipients in Tarrant County.
AIDS Pharmaceutical Assistance Program (LPAP/CPAP)
This program helps people living with HIV get the medicine they need.
Early Intervention Services (EIS)
This service helps find people living with HIV early and connect them to care. It includes:
- Targeted HIV testing and counseling
- Referrals and help getting into care
- Health education to help understand the HIV care system
-Outreach services to help people get tested and get into care
Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA)
This program gives short-term help to people living with HIV. It can help with:
- Utility bills
- Rent or housing
- Food
- Prescription costs
This help is only given once in a while and for a short time.
Case Management
Medical Case Management (MCM):
Helps people with HIV who have many health needs. Case managers make sure that people take their medicine and stay in treatment.
Non-Medical Case Management (N-MCM):
Helps with everyday needs like housing, food, transportation, and legal help. This support makes it easier for people to stay healthy and in care
Food Bank
Provides free food and personal care items for people living with HIV. This includes fruits, vegetables, healthy food products, and basic items.
Congregate Meals: Prepared meals or meal vouchers given in group settings or delivered to people who can't cook or shop because of HIV.
Health Insurance Premium and Co-Pay Assistance
Helps people living with HIV pay for:
- Health insurance
- Co-pays
- Deductibles
This helps people living with HIV keep their insurance or get medical benefits.
Housing Services and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)
Housing Services: Offers different housing options so people living with HIV can stay in medical care.
Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA): Helps low-income people living with HIV and their families find and keep stable, safe housing.
Linguistic Services
Provides interpreters and translators so people living with HIV can understand and get care in their language.
Mental Health Services
Offers mental health care for people living with HIV.
Services include:
- Mental health check-ups
- Counseling
- Treatment from licensed professionals
Medical Nutrition Therapy
A registered dietitian helps people living with HIV get the right nutrition. May include food or supplements based on a provider's plan.
Medical Transportation
Helps people living with HIV get to HIV-related medical appointments. Rides may be given through services, vouchers, or gift cards..
Oral Health Services
Provides dental services for people living with HIV. Services include:
- Cleanings
- Check-ups
- Treatments
Services follow dental laws and are given by licensed dentists.
Outpatient/Ambulatory Health Services
Provides medical care for people living with HIV in places like clinics or offices where patients don’t stay overnight. Services include check-ups, tests, and treatments.
Psychosocial Support Services
Offers support for people living with HIV and their families. This may include:
- Counseling
- Support groups
- Grief support
Referral for Health Care/Support Services
Helps connect people living with HIV to services such as medical care, support programs, or health insurance documentation by phone, in person, or other ways.
Substance Use Services - Outpatient
Provides support for people living with HIV dealing with substance use problems. Services are given by trained professionals and help people get treatment as soon as possible.
