Copies of Official Public Records (Real Property)

Tarrant County is pleased to offer you four (4) convenient ways to obtain a copy of an official public record:

Method 1: In Person

If you happen to be downtown, you are always welcome to stop by the Tarrant County Courthouse (100 W. Weatherford Street, Room B30), between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., where our friendly staff is ready to help you find and print the official public record that you are looking for*.  Or, if you prefer, you can use one of our convenient public kiosks.  For copies made in person, please note that there is a $1 per page fee, plus an additional $5 fee if the copy needs to be certified.

*Please note: we do not conduct title searches, lien searches, or determine restrictions, but do provide assistance with navigating the online search tool.

Method 2: Online (Free)

Are you just researching or trying to find a copy of a property document for your own records?  Not a problem!  Unofficial watermarked copies of most official public records can be accessed, downloaded and printed free of charge directly from your home computer!  Simply visit the Tarrant County Official Records Search page and start your search!  Once you’ve found the document you are looking for*, just open the document, register for an account in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and sign in, then click on the blue ‘Download (Free)’ icon.  Your document will automatically download with an ‘Unofficial Copy’ watermark.

*Please note: if you need assistance with navigating the online search tool, please call us at 817-884-1069.

Method 3: Online (Certified)

Do you need a record that is certified?  That’s also not a problem.  Once you’ve found that free version of the document and followed the steps in Method 1, instead of clicking the blue ‘Download (Free)’ icon, you’ll click the blue ‘Certified Copy’ icon.  The system will calculate the fees and you’ll just follow the payment prompts.  After payment, you’ll go to Order History in your account and find your certified document, ready for download, along with a convenient receipt for your order.

Method 4: Mail

If your preference is to submit a request for a document by mail, that’s as easy as sending us a self-addressed stamped envelope, specifying the document number(s) being requested (i.e., D215000000) and a cashier’s check, money order, or business check made payable to the Tarrant County Clerk.  The cost will be $1 per page and an additional $5 for certification.  Please send your self-addressed stamped envelope and payment to:
